چکیده

Background: The purpose of this study is to assess the functional outcome cases with advanced thumb carpometacarpal (CMC) arthritis treated trapeziectomy and ligament reconstruction tendon interposition (LRTI) in terms visual analogue scale (VAS), disabilities arm, shoulder hand (DASH) score, Kapandji range motion (ROM) radial volar abduction thumb, grip power, key pinch height trapezial space.

Methods: In a prospective before after interventional 30 patients CMC joint underwent procedure. An average follows up period was 17.9 months.

Results: mean VAS decreased from 8.17 2.70. score DASH improved 3.47 71.62 preoperative 8.23 14.46 postoperative. Mean ROM for increased 42.57° 48° 61°and 64.73° respectively. power 2.80 kg 4.70 9.01 There significant decrease space. Three patient complaint persistent pain at surgical site not much improvement score.

Conclusions: Trapeziectomy LRTI using flexor carpi radialis (FCR) transfer an effective treatment arthritis. This procedure stabilizes metacarpal provide enough support which prevents collapse into dead space.

Modified trapeziectomy with ligament reconstruction tendon interposition for the treatment of advanced thumb carpometacarpal arthritis
RATIONALE Thumb carpometacarpal (CMC) arthritis is a common disease. Various procedures have been described for the treatment of advanced thumb CMC arthritis. This essay shows a CMC arthritis case treated by modified trapeziectomy with ligament reconstruction tendon interposition (LRTI). PATIENT CONCERNS A 53-year-old Chinese female complained of pain and swelling at the base of the left thum...

Arthroscopic partial trapeziectomy and tendon interposition for thumb carpometacarpal arthritis
BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to introduce arthroscopic partial trapeziectomy and tendon interposition for the treatment of symptomatic thumb carpometacarpal arthritis of Eaton stage II or III. METHODS From August 2001 to April 2009, 23 patients with thumb carpometacarpal arthritis were treated using this technique. Pain score, range of motion, and pinch strength were clinically ev...

LEARNING OBJECTIVES After studying this article, the participant should be able to: 1. Understand the pathomechanical and biochemical basis for thumb trapeziometacarpal joint degeneration. 2. Diagnose and grade trapeziometacarpal joint disease based on presentation, physical examination (including provocative testing), and radiographic evidence. 3. Understand the principles of ligament reconstr...

Numerous surgical procedures have been described to treat trapeziometacarpal osteoarthritis, but no approach is currently considered superior. Good long-term outcomes have been reported with multiple procedures. No studies have been published comparing outcomes of the Arpe joint replacement (Biomet, Valence, France) with those of ligament reconstruction and tendon interposition (LRTI) using the...
